World Bank approves 12 billion dollars for coronavirus vaccine

 

Agency: The World Bank has approved US$ 12 billion for financing developing countries to buy and distribute coronavirus vaccines. This targets to support vaccine for up to 1 billion people.

The World Bank said that the emergency response programs are reaching 111 countries. The World Bank has approved this finance so that citizens in developing countries can also get access to the vaccine.

International Finance Corporation of the World Bank is investing 4 billion dollars in Global Health Platform, the World Bank said.  Currently, researchers are working to develop more than 179 potential Covid-19 vaccines.

According to the World Bank, it will also draw expertise and experience from its involvement in many large-scale immunization programs and other public health efforts.

The finance will support management of supply chain and other logistics for vaccination in developing countries, according to the World Bank.
