Lack of vaccine refrigeration facility could leave three billion without access
Logistics experts have warned that most parts of the world lack refrigeration for administering an effective vaccination program.
Most parts of India, South-East Asia , tiny corners of Africa, Latin America except the large countries will have this problem, according to the experts.
International organizations have overseen the installation of tens of thousands of solar-powered vaccine refrigerators, according to a news report peepared by AP.
Just producing vaccine is not just enough, keeping the vaccines stable till the time they are given to patients is also required. This needs mobile refrigeration, reliable electricity, proper roads and proper planning, reports AP.
Currently, 42 coronavirus vaccine are in clinical trials. Similarly, 151 are in pre-clinical evaluation.
Freezers below 70 degrees Celsius are rare in the US and European hospitals as well. Expert say vaccine against Covid-19 requires ultra-cold storage.
According to a study by German company DHL, two-third countries in the world does not have advanced technology.
