Govt starts telemedicine service for coronavirus patients

Kathmandu: The government has started ‘telemedicine’ service to facilitate the treatment of coronavirus patients. There are 14 medical professionals in the telemedicine team.

The doctors will give suggestions to the patients through telephone, email and other virtual medium. The Ministry of Health and Population has decided to start the telemedicine facility for coronavirus patients after a secretary-level meeting on Monday.

The government has started telemedicine services in all the seven provinces. People can consult with the focal persons of the Provincial Hub Hospitals. They can consult about their complication and the treatment.

According to a press statement released by the ministry, Dr Sharad Chandra Baral and Dr Sailesh Gurung have been appointed as the focal persons of the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences.

Focal person for Janakpur Hospital is Dr Ramdev Chaudhary.

Similarly, Dr Bishnu Poudel and Dr Achyut Acharya are the main persons for National Academy of Health Sciences.

Likewise, Dr Sher Bahadur Kumar and Dr Kapil Gautam are the focal persons for Seti Provincial Hospital. Similarly, Dr Nawaraj KC has been appointed as focal person for Surkhet Hospital and Dr Pradip Adhikari and Dr Kalyan Sapkota for Bharatpur Hospital. The main persons for Koshi Hospital are Dr Den Parsad Acharya and Dr Parbin Kumar Jha and for the Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Dr Sudarshan Thapa is the focal person.
