Mexico begins vaccination program: COVID 19

Agency: Mexico has started vaccination programme from Thursday. With this, Mexico has become the first country in Latin America to do this.

Mexican nurse has become first person in Latin America to receive coronavirus shot, according to BBC.

The country has brought 300,000 doses of the US German Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

This country has one of the highest pandemic deaths in the world. The number of deaths is just behind US, Brazil and India.

Argentina has also plans to start COVID vaccine shots in the next few days. This country has chosen Russian-produced vaccine Sputnik V for the initial phase.

Similarly, Brazil will start the vaccine from mid-February.

A 59 year-old Maria Irene Ramirez, head nurse at the Ruben Lenero hospital in Mexico City received the shot. This is as part of the government’s strategy to focus on health care workers in December, January and February.
