World leaders shows concern on ‘attack on US democracy’
World leaders have condemned the violent scenes in Washington. The rioters have been supporting US President Donald Trump have been storming the Capitol building.
This action of the supporters forced the suspension of a joint session of congress to certify Biden’s victory.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has condemned the riot. He tweeted “The United States stands for democracy around the world and it is now vital that there should be a peaceful and orderly transfer of power.”
Similarly, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he is distressed to see news about rioting and violence in Washington DC. He tweeted “Distressed to see news about rioting and violence in Washington DC. Orderly and peaceful transfer of power must continue. The democratic process cannot be allowed to be subverted through unlawful protests.”
Similarly, French foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian criticized the “grave attack against democracy”.
Likewise, foreign minister of Germany Heiko Mass said that Trump and his supporters must accept the decision of American voters at last and stop trampling on democracy.
European Council President Charles Michel said that he trusted the US “to ensure a peaceful transfer of power” to Biden. Similarly, EU Presdient Ursula von der Leyen said she looked forward to working with the democrat.
