9th Khichara festival from Jan 13

Chitwan. A Khichara festival is being organised at Khairahani in Chitwan district to preserve the Tharu culture. The preparations for the ninth Khichara festival to be organised from January 13 have been intensified. Tharu Welfare Assembly Constituency 7 is organising the event till January 24.
Organising a press conference here today, the organiser shared information about the objective and preparation of the festival. The Khichara festival is going to be held with an objective of preserving and promoting culture, costumes, language, literature and cuisines of Tharu Community on the occasion of Maghi festival. Maghi is the biggest festival of Tharu community.
Kichara festival, which is celebrated on Magh 1 every year, is being organised for the past nine years. Coordinator of festival main organizing committee, Rameshwor Chaudhary, mentioned that a 200-member main organising committee and 15 different sub-committees were formed to run the festival.
A total of 150 stalls would be kept on display in the festival. Even the competition of agriculture products will feature the event. The organiser expects more than 100 thousand visitors in the festival.
