Ten US states sue Google

NepalKhoj Report 18 Dec, 2020

Agency: Ten US states, led by Texas, are suing Google, according to BBC.

They have been accusing Google of taking illegal steps to maintain its monopoly over online advertisement market.

The tech giant is now under pressure from regulators globally.

However, Google has rejected the claims saying that this would be ‘strongly’ defending itself in court.

The lawsuit aims to control Google’s online advertising market, according to BBC.  It says that this was founded in 2008 with its purchase of Double Click, the main software that publishers use to sell online advertising.

The 10 states in US suing Google are Texas, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, South Dakota, North Dakota, Utah and Idaho.

According to the BBC, these states claim that Google used its new role to benefit other parts of its business by forcing publishers to license its advertisement servers.
